I have found some time and some much needed energy for the dashboard section of my site. What I once thought was good to great, I now think is ordinary to downright terrible. So I will be updating dashboards which are nearly 5 years old to give them a bit of a facelift. Today I worked on this particular dashboard, in its day OK so here is the before and after images.
One of my earliest dashboards and I think this is after 1 facelift. It was more simplistic at one point.
This is after a few hours of work on the board. It looks a lot 'fuller' with a few nice little additions. I have added this dashboard to the site over the top of the old dashboard so it replaces the old with the new.
The following is a much needed update. Looking at a range of the dashboards I can see many more that need a facelift.
I have taken this template and added to it and removed some of the features I did not like. The following is the outcome of about a day of work.
It is a lot cleaner with a lot more data points. I could enhance it further but I am going to move on at this point. This is the link to the page.
This was the old turnover dashboard. This was one of the very first dashboards on thesmallman.com. I think the newer version of this file is a lot more on point :)
With more data I could add more charting options. This looks a lot better while still having a nod to the old dashboard. Now that I have started I can see so many more are short of my current standard. Sigh - it is a big job.
The above dashboard, while functional, is very short on detail. I have updated the Excel file so it is rich with data. Not as detailed as some of the other dashboards but a major improvement.
The above Excel dashboard was one of the first ones to hit the site. Clean functionality but not enough data in my opinion. The newer version keeps all of the original data with a little more economic data to fill the dashboard.
The above is the finished Excel Dashboard. It has a cleaner look and more data.
This dashboard is a little light on detail. I will attempt to fill the space a little better.
The above is the result after a quick re work. I added some more data and changed some of the colouring. It looks a lot better in my opinion.

I will have a more thorough crack at some of the other dashboards which I think are old and tired. If anyone has any thoughts on what I could do to improve the site for users feel free to email me. I had a suggestion yesterday regarding a post which I will action when time permits.
